The Sweeps Festival is a colorful mix of music, dancing and entertainment with more than 60 Morris groups and entertainers celebrating throughout the three-day festival.
The Sweeps Festival, 2nd – 4th May, lots of the children dress as chimney sweeps. The festival included the Jack-in-the-Green ceremony, a seven-foot character that the sweeps used to waken at dawn on Blue Bell Hill, Chatham. The Jack-in-the-Green walks with the chimney sweeps in the parade.
The Sweeps Festival brings the center of Rochester alive with music and dance.
You can find simplyTrue at The Sweeps Festival with Rochester Farmers Market on all three days…..we will have our Childrens Lucky Dip, with all contents made by myself…….we will be in the disabled car park next to The Kings Head Pub in Rochester High Street…..with simplyTrue will be stalls selling teas, coffees, hot chocolate, cakes, crepes, gourmet sausage rolls, pies, pasties, Indian Food, cooked sausages in rolls, breads and much more. Also cocktails made with local gin and beautiful local made candles.
